Mongolian
Dance: Paean (赞歌)
Paean is a
Mongolian dance, and it has its own special nuances that makes it so
Mongolian. Dances speak volumes about their culture and reflect their
philosophy towards life, their way of life and the environment they live
in. Mongolians are known to be emotional and expressive. They are very
free people, and they live on the open plains and grasslands that
stretch seemingly forever on either side. Unlike many other places in
China, Inner Mongolia has a small population, so movement is never
restricted and everyone is free. They live a nomadic lifestyle and many
love nothing better than galloping over the grasslands, moving, and
being free. Paean is a dance that expresses Mongolian's pride of their
homeland, freedom, and heritage.
